Kevin Schofield, Memorial
Kevin Schofield, Executive Director of the Utah Alliance of Government Employees lost his battle with diabetes related strep infection on June 13, 2009.
Kevin has been hospitalized for the past three months working valiantly to stay here with us. Following numerous surgeries and facing a long recovery his body could no longer handle what it was being asked to do. Whatever your spiritual path, please take a moment to thank Kevin for his dedication to your career and bless him as he moves on from here.
Kevin originated and solely implemented UAGE from it’s inception in 1998. As the organization grew, he modeled his own beliefs and his integrity into the fabric of how he represented UAGE members and conducted himself with elected officials. Kevin and others who assisted him with the initial start up of UAGE strived to build an organization void of conflicts of interest from all staff and a complete dedication to the term “loyalty to all members”. Kevin learned from working with other employee organizations that when you compromise any of your basic tenants, your honor and your code of conduct is cheapened and called into immediate question. With Kevin at the helm, UAGE has grown to become the second largest employee organization in Utah. With his spirit and dedication to public employees in Utah as a guide, those who are left behind to shepherd UAGE will continue doing so in his honor and in his way.
